Manifesto Parti Rakyat Malaysia, Selangor

Give us a chance

Dear Malaysians,

Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM)  is one of the oldest parties in Malaysia  established by Sdr Ahmad Boestamam in  1955. We are a party that champions the people's welfare, equality and democracy. We will be running for many seats in this upcoming election, PRU-14. We hope you can give us a chance to serve this beloved nation and the Rakyat.

Parti Rakyat shall champion for:-

1.        Peace and harmony

The Federal Constitution is the foundation of our nation.  The Constitution must be improved to safeguard and ensure peace and harmony, fair and equal treatment for all citizens regardless of race, religion, gender and social status and for a  democratic society.

2.        Reduce reliance on foreign workers

To set a 10-year plan to reduce reliance on foreign workers in all sectors. Set up incentives and insurance schemes to encourage young people to participate in blue collar sectors such as construction.

3.      Reinstate local government elections

The local government is the lowest tier of government in Malaysia's administration .  They have the right to impose taxes and to execute local laws on the community. The local government election was suspended in 1964 due to Indonesia's confrontation with Malaysia, and was subsequently abolished in 1972. The time is now ripe to reinstate local government elections so that local residents can exercise their democratic rights to elect local councilors and mayor. Reinstating local government elections will allow local candidates to participate and be involved.

4.        Economic opportunities for all

To bring economic prosperity and opportunities to the people. To encourage housewives and the disabled to participate in the work force by providing flexible working hours or allowing them to work from home.  To provide the necessary financial assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to modernize their production lines by using automated  processes and machines.

5.        Sustainable Environment

To seek balanced and sustainable development in order to preserve the environment and to ensure environmental sustainability;  To educate the public on the 3Rs - Reduce, Re-use and Recycle, starting from primary school level to raise civic consciousness. To ensure quality living - encourage and promote the use of green technology with state government incentives.

6.        Uphold Civil Rights

Advancing and updating the standard of social justice based on empathy and diversity.

Civil rights include the solution for gender and sexuality crimes, Anti-hatred Act and Anti-discrimination Act, Sexual Harassment Act (as a standalone act), privacy rights and review on the social institutional practice to measure the degree of gender and sexuality-friendly cum individual comfort level to ensure minority groups have their dignity and enjoy their rights.

7.        Affordable Housing

State participation to provide affordable housing for the middle-lower income and low-cost housing for  the needy.  Adopt the rent-first-then-buy model to assist the needy to purchase house. Government proposed a sell-back system for affordable and low-cost house buyers to eliminate speculative activities.

8.       Participation in Improving Security

Encourage voluntarism with state government recognition or state-sponsored projects such as Rukun Tetangga to safeguard the community. To set up residents associations (RAs) for all residences and build close cooperation with local communities through RAs and the police to fight crime and drug problems.

9.        Improve Competitiveness Among Young People

Providing innovative and tailor-made courses suitable for young people who did not complete their SPM-level studies in order to attend technical and vocational courses  and assist them in building up their own career starting from internship.

10.   Encourage Youth Involvement in Agriculture and Agro-business and to provide land for farmers

Encourage involvement of youth in the agricultural sector.  This will help reduce the issues of aging farm population and youth unemployment. Incentives, training, assistance and land should be given to young farmers in order to give them a head start. To provide  land to other farmers.

By improving physical infrastructure and social amenities in the rural areas and creating job opportunities, rural-urban migration can be controlled. This will translate into increased agricultural production and ultimately reduce the dependency on imports of food and the rural households on their families in urban centres, thus improving food security.
